The Pointer Sisters
Songwriter Allee Willis has died at 72. Willis wrote the Pointer's hit Neutron Dance and several other well known songs.
Allee Willis was a colleague and friend of The Pointer Sisters. Aside from the well known and loved Neutron Dance, the group recorded a handful of other songs penned by Willis, including "Be There" (Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack), "Set Me Free" (Jumpin' Jack Flash soundtrack) and "Tell It To My Heart", written with Anita Pointer for the group's 1993 album, Only Sisters Can Do That.
Anita and Allee Willis also collaborated on "Take Me Away", the title track on Anita's upcoming solo release.
The Hollywood Museum is currently recognizing The Pointer Sisters by exhibiting Anita Pointer's vast collection of Pointer Sisters stage costumes and memorabilia. Learn more!
The Pointer Sisters' Grammy win and nominations in the country music category are getting a lot of press lately thanks to Lil Nas X
If the remix version of Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus' "Old Town Road" is nominated for a Grammy, Nas X will become only the fourth black artist nominated for a vocal collaboration in a country category since The Pointer Sisters. If he's nominated for performing and songwriting, that would make him the first since Anita Pointer and Bonnie Pointer were nomintated for songwriters in the country category 45 years ago!
Fans from around the world can now visit Anita's extensive collection of stage costumes and Pointer Sisters' memorabilia at The Hollywood Museum!
In relation to the recent news of Bonnie Pointer becoming ill during a performance in Hollywood, we wish Bonnie the best and hope that she has a speedy recovery! Bonnie officially left "The Pointer Sisters" over 43 years ago and continues to perform solo. She remains a loved and valued member of our family.
